 ABOUT THE agreste: 

The Agreste is located between the forest zone and the hinterland, in Northeastern Brazil. This is a semi-arid region, being the predominant biome caatinga.
In the Agreste region of the state of Pernambuco, there are 71 municipalities grouped into six micro-regions: the Ipanema Valley; High Capibaribe; East Capibaribe; Garanhuns; Ipojuca Valley; Brejo Pernambucano.
Located in Ipojuca Valley the Caruaru city is the largest city in the state. Its principal activities include: the Fair of Caruaru (which received in 2006 Iphan the title of Cultural Heritage and Brazilian Immaterial) that moves the trade; crafts (made of the clay art) and St. John (Fiesta, typical of the region).
