Bumba Meu Boi – Boi Tira Teima

Bumba meu boi or boi-bumbá is a dance of Brazilian popular folklore, with human characters and fantastic animals, which revolves around a legend about the death and resurrection of an ox.

The only known to certain fact about the history of the emergence of this party is an episode in the period of Dutch domination in Pernambuco state, specifically in Recife. This event is called the episode Flying Ox, and, from there, it would have evolved into a legend with a more elaborate story as it is today.

The culture of cattle and similar in Pernambuco is celebrated in all the festive cycles of state and already has an official date (February 28).

The ox Tira Teima of Caruaru It was created on October 5, 1922, as another option to play carnival. During the presentations, the steers were fighting each other. It is a game that engages and entertains a lot of people.
