Pife also called fife, is a kind of flute made of bamboo, bone, mamoeira stem or even PVC. The Fife Band is a set of wind instruments and percussion, which are basically zabumba box (snare drum) cymbal and two pifes. In the northeast the band pife came from a junction of several Brazilian cultural elements, with many folk traits and settled the northeast as music for events in churches.

Formerly the Pife bands presented themselves in Christian events to welcome religious, today there is this culture intertwined in religious events, but Pife bands currently makes their presentations at fairs, cultural events, among others.
